Poison - Antara Martins

Dear Reader,

It is with greatest pleasure that I announce the publication of my debut poetry collection : Poison - a tale of my metamorphosis in having to deal with the burden of love, the need for achievement, intense rivalry, volatile friendships, seeping jealousy and often cold-hearted betrayal. It is a testament to the ambivalence of coming - of - age and the trialling, yet soul making opportunities it provides.

As you all may know, my love for writing blossomed from an early fascination with studying literature—from Dante to Shakespeare to Brontë. That’s why I know, deeply and personally, that education is far more than just a path—it is a promise. A promise of hope, of rising above circumstance, of dreaming beyond limits. Having been so fortunate as to have learnt from talented professors and had access to textbooks and study guides, I know how much it has changed my life and it is my greatest wish that every woman has this chance to pursue education and be empowered by it.

Therefore, writing this novel is not just for me. It is to do my part in championing a cause I am viscerally passionate about. I am delighted to share that 100% of the proceeds from Poison will go toward funding women's education in my home country of India, specifically through Pratham's Second Chance Program which is designed for women and girls who, due to various circumstances, have had to discontinue their education. The programme offers them the opportunity to resume their studies and complete their high school diploma as well as provides academic tutoring, life skills training, and emotional support, all of which enables learners to tackle the hurdles that once prevented them from achieving their educational goals. 

There are honestly no words to describe this moment for me; I have wanted to be a published author for over a decade. None of this would be possible without your continued support of my writing on this blog from my op-eds to my poetry. As such my deepest gratitude goes to you, Dear Reader, for everything you have done to make my dream come true.
