Violent Ends
Twas written in the stars
that parting always meant to be
Sweet sorrow.
For love never stood a chance
Against
Such wicked webs of deceit.
A lover scorned.
Poisoned Lips.
Bloodied daggers.
For even the mighty power of
Love was not enough to save.
And what yet of the chaste girl?
What of her heart
That the Montague Prince so effortlessly
Discarded
Merely at the sight of the girl?
Four days.
Love was not enough to save her
Either.
Lost to baser desires.
And what of the Lords of
this notorious blood feud, Who
let their blood drop to their knees
In Surrender
To hatred.
To violence.
Even their claims of love
did not stop the
Death.
For even the Friar knew all along,
That Violent Delights only lead to
Violent Ends,
That virtue will never defeat vice
Until it is too late.
That hatred will remain triumphant,
That love will never be enough.
