Waiting
Waiting
Is the hard part.
I sit here biting the flesh
around my fingers and
chewing my bottom lip
Until a saline, acrid taste
Fills my mouth with bitter
Apprehension.
The pain brings me relief.
Waiting
Is the hard part
because today
Empty prophecies become
Fulfilled.
Different numbers. Different futures.
Blood sweat and tears would
Be so much the sweeter if
It bore fertile fruit.
This year has finally come to a close.
A sigh escapes my lips,
Whether it is relief or regret
I know not yet but
as I sit under the stars
In attempt to reason
I realize it is in part both.
It has been one hell of a year.
Tears spent,
Dreams met.

To all the students who received their GCSE Results today like me, I wish you the biggest congratulations in the world.
All of you are deserving. All of you are enough.
There is lots of anxiety and worry reflected in this poem. Life is full of exams, do the best and laugh your way through it. Nice poem.
Introspection is the key to evolution young poet. You seem to be gifted with that.
You’ve put in blood, swear and tears, the waiting is over, and now enjoy the brief lull. Your poem captures all this agony so well.
Each blog posting gets better and better. You are both quality and prolific in your writing.
Congratulations on the GCSEs. I hope you passed in flying colors, because this poem more than passed in my books, I had a cry.
